Hey guys,

We currently use our private vehicles and get paid mileage for work.

They're now changing us over to company vans, and this leaves me in a bit of a conundrum. I have a 1.6TDI Seat Leon Ecomotive, which will have roughly 65-70k miles on when it comes time to get the van.

I will do no where near enough miles to mean I should have a diesel, and my girlfriend has a petrol Punto that I'm insured on (I'm 23). If I do any mileage, it will all be town driving, and we know how modern diesels with DPF's hate town driving.

My question is, would keep or get rid of it? It's not in the greatest condition paintwork wise as it's done all motorway miles, and I hate going through the hassle of selling a car privately. I paid approx £12,000 for it two years ago, and then I think it's probably worth something like £6-8k.

The van can be parked on the drive, or the street near my home, but we currently have 4 cars in our house, and me and the girlfriend are looking to move into a new house where we only have two spaces on the drive.

What would you guys do?

Don't do anything yet. Wait until you have been using the company van for a while and then see how you feel about getting rid of your car. Perhaps you'll want to keep it, perhaps you'll want to stil have a car but can have something that's more enjoyable, or maybe you'll think you don't need the extra expense and just drop having a private car all together. Wait and see
