Evening all,

Started another thread earlier that went a little mad so I am hoping this one will be a little easier, I am looking to order a car to collect on 1st Sep but a dealer has advised me that my car will be worth (worst case) £2.5K less by then.

I have never had a new car before so am a little confused as to what the best way is to proceed, anyone any advice or experience?

Thanks
Chris

You can't value a car accurately this far in advance. Order new car and value (px) or sell old car at the time.

When you trade in a dealer will use your old car as part of the bargaining process. If you get a discount on the new car he'll push for a lower price on the old. It's all negotiation from here. Treat what the dealer says as a starting point. Personally I'd sell privately to get a few more quid out of my old car but that's not for everyone. £2.5k is a little (well, OK a lot) steep in reduction in 5 months!
