Hello,
I wonder if anyone can tell me a budget way of making a secure repair to this without buying a new cat converter:-

The pipe weld has cracked around the join (just visible to the right of the flange as a dark line in the pic below, so the pipe from the cat is no longer fixed to the flange; there is a small leak of exhaust gas (although the two halves of the joint are firmly bolted together) because the pipe on the right is sliding in and out! frown The other pipe (on the left) goes to the centre silencer box and is ok.

Many thanks in advance.

Could you cut the flange (fnarr) out completely and put a sleeve over the joint?

I wondered about that, but then thought what if I need a new centre box in a few years, the new one won't fit without the same alteration, which would probably invalidate the guarantee on the new silencer?

Sounds about right- new flange and a few inches of tube welded onto the old cat pipe - sorted :-)
