Lightest And Smallest Cheap 4WD ?

I've been looking for a small tractor for hauling logs, cuttings etc across my 6 acres and anything worth having is £1-2K minimum.

So I am considering buying a small light 4WD.

Lightweight so it doesn't cut into the lawn, 4wd because the wet grass has defeated many 2WD cars already.

Suzuki SJ 410 / 413 seems the obvious choice circa 900kg

Is there anything else I should be looking at - a kitcar perhaps ?

How about a Honda CRV? They can be had for next to nothing, I think they weigh in at just over a ton, but I may be wrong - it's the only car I can think of that fits your requirements.

Ikkle suzzuki as has been suggested, Jimny's are cheap as chips.

Or quad bike + trailer, that'll probably blow the budget though.

How about a Subaru Justy? You could remove the rear seats for some extra load space, and they're lightweight and cheap.

Nice little Daisy Brown 995 for £1500 would do nicely. Also vintage tractors are an appreciating, rather than depreciating asset.

A tow bar would be a diddle to fit as its got a simple exposed chassis

Terios. We have one at work. I've been waiting a month for someone to get me a clutch for it. Suprisingly nippy wee thing. Big drifts on gravel lol. You always think its gonna tip over though. They're cheap too. I reckon this one will go for about a grand when it's fixed and has a years mot.

My missus has an ignis. Nice little car, but if it's going to work offroad all day I'd have a jimny with a proper transfer box instead of the ignis viscous coupling.

We have an ignis because it's better on road for precisely the same reason it's not as good as a jimny off road.

Jimny is near unstoppable off road.
I've had one then a 110 Defender; the Jimny often goes where the 110 couldn't.
Sadly they are awful on long journeys. In town they are the easiest cars to park ever.
Oh and they aren't great on fuel.

The std tractors are too big and heavy - I was looking at the compact ones and then buying the attachments for the lawn etc.

Quads need a trailer which adds to cost etc

The cars don't seem to offer any advantage over the SJ / Jimny as with a chassis I can cut the bodywork off.

I'd be surprised if modern ones were that cheap now, and if you can find a tidy proper Panda 4x4 for a grand or so, I've got cash waiting for it.

A new Panda 4x4 is £14k but pretty cheap to lease. Low emissions mean it's one of few interesting possible company cars.
