Yes, as above, 114,000 miles is not astronomical mileage for a car of that age these days. I'd politely ask for a return.

It depends entirely on what you're offered...

Given the price of the thing I'd expect them to resolve the gearbox issue (essential for driving the car) but not necessarily the other issues. IMO a good result for the remainder would be them doing the work and only invoicing for cost of parts by way of compromise.

Can get very sticky with a sub £2k 11 year old car...

If they do repair them it would be good will. As you've inspected the car and driven it, you can't claim that you didn't have an opportunity to find these faults. You only really have comeback if they've lied to you about something. It's worth asking, they may be nice guys. Good luck.

Did you check under the bonnet before you bought it?

I always check under there for signs for mayo on the oil and always check all electrics etc.

No I didnt check under the bonnet, I realise ive been a bit of an idiot not checking it properly.

Not checking all the electrics, or if the doors open, and not even looking under the bonnet?
Old cars are great for bargains, but you do need to know what to look for otherwise you could end up with a money pit.

Let the garage have a look at it, chances are its nothing serious. If however it is serious there's no chance the garage will pay to get it put right, and you may have a fight on your hands to get your money back.

I'm inclined to agree at this age/price car purchased through a dealer.

As you asked directly about the clutch/gearbox and they told you it would be fine, I would expect them to repair it FOC.

The others you should have checked before you bought it, and I think you'll have to pay for if you want them fixed.

I can't really offer much help apart from repeating what others have said.

But I do hope others learn from your mistake.
It really is worth getting a car inspected before you buy it.
The AA will do it for £50.
(Or at least they used to.)
