Trackers - any good?
Discussion
Hi folks, are trackers any good? Im thinking of getting one, but have read they are easily defeated by jamming boxes that cost just a few quid.
Tracker are making a big deal of their alternative technology now fitted to their devices which isn't as easily foiled.
However, a 5 minute google and it seems this is the LoJack type technology - which just needs another type of jammer. Is that right? I'm not going to the ongoing expense if they can be wiped out by any criminal with an Ebay account.
I'm not fussed either way about getting a car back of its nicked but would be nice if the scumbags can be caught and fully persecuted to serve their two hours of community service - I don't mind paying out for that.
Does anyone know if there is a tracker that isn't yet defeated please??
Cheers!

(Sorry hijacking) I've read how trackers can be found rather easily, I'm curious as to whether a smart phone with one of the location apps would be any good. You'd have a smart phone at the end of a contract (or buy a cheap one), could get a unlim data plan for probably £5 a month and wire up one of those fancy chargers that only charges when needed.
What's the PH consensus on that idea?

I think people do the best, they can with the money they have.
Things like a garage, out of sight etc, tracker, wheel clamp a good one POLICE TYPE, Disklok they all help.
If only to put them off, your car and go for a easy target.
Also think about the area you park your car in. Is someone following you home?
This has happened to me before.
A tracker does not always get you a discount, on insurance some say you must have one fitted others do not.
There are many brands now Skytag and AA I think have one now.
The thing with a tracker is time factor, if you know about it being stolen fast better chance to get it tracked and the people caught.
People with them fitted, do not have stickers on there car to tell you either.
