What car for a friend

Well just heard that a friend is now expecting their 3rd child (the other two are under 4) - its due in 6 ish months.

Their current car - estate Passat will no longer be suitable as you cannot put 3 car seats in a row. In addition given the even more stuff they will have to have space for they are thinking what to buy.

My initial thoughts were SMax however is a Galaxy the better option just adds that touch more boot space and bigger last row seats.

The chap isn't into cars at all its simply a safe mode of transport - he is likely to go for top spec for the technology and also would require rear headrest DVD screens. This is the family car he runs a Golf For his commuting etc.


Any other suitable options?
Budget I'm not sure - but knowing him it would be very new or new and kept for a very long time.

Don't know budget yet will ask - but he isn't interested in cars so if it were an E class it would I guess an E250CDI or lower.


Mileage in the 5k ish range - his wife doesn't work she's a home maker/bringing up the kids.
