1. How ever many complete months are on the disc when it is received by DVLA.
2. By driving it to a pre-arranged MOT test.
2a. Yes, but the test must have been booked in advance.
3. Unlikely to be an issue, but always best to check your own policy for any bizarre conditions.

You can have a Sorn car with insurance.

BUT.

You cannot have a taxed car without insurance.

When you come to get it back on the road - insure it, then drive it to MOT, then tax it.

That isn't a DVLA website, the official ones are .gov e.g https://www.gov.uk/tax-disc

That is a commercial site designed to extract money from you for doing little or nothing. Go to the DVLA site direct, not a rip-off merchant.

If you have sorned a car but the MOT is still valid, can you just tax and insure and away you go?

One of those sites that makes money and submits your application has been clawed back by Nominet and the 'owner' successfully prosecuted at St Albans Crown Court. Was in my local paper.

All official sites are something.gov.uk Anything else, despite how it might look, is not official.

Added - answer to above, of course, MOT is not invalidated by declaring SORN
