New car, Deposit Paid, Trim level no longer available

Ordered a new car on Monday, sorted out the spec & trim level I wanted and agreed a price, paid the deposit.
Yesterday I got a call from the dealer telling me that that particular combination was removed by the manufacturer - at the end of March.
The only option would be to go for the higher spec trim, leather etc whic I don't want, for an additional £2500.

Other than demand my deposit back and walk away, what are my options?

Is there perhaps one already in the network they can source you? Alternatively, ask the dealer to spec up a standard car so it matches the discontinued trim level or to supply the higher spec car at the price agreed. All they can do is say no. At which point you get your deposit back and head off to a different brand.

The manufacturers reserve the right to change specfication and options etc.
st really but thats the way it is.
The only thing you could try is phoning round different dealers to try to find a stock car that suits.

What was the car BTW?

Typo in original post put May instead of March for deletion of spec - makes a difference as basically the dealer was aware, or should have been, at the time of taking the deposit that it was no longer available and hadn't been for two weeks.

Car is a RCZ - 200 sport, only other option was GT at +£2,500 or go for the lower power 165, being a PH I went for more power over smart seats.

I shouldn't think you'd need to 'demand' anything back. It's their cockup.

Find a pre-registered one in the trim you want?

Thanks for the responses, looking for a red with black pack, not a lot available pre-reg in that combination.
Having had a look at Drive-the-deal seems like I can get a serious discount that way, I will just have to sell my current car privately or go WBAC

Only if a dealer that deals with DTD has a car in stock, otherwise there's still no car.

Hopefully you find ken, I don't think there are any Peugeot dealers on here unfortunately.

Have you spoken to customer services to see if you can negotiate a deal. Had something similar happen to me. They deleted a paint colour. Ended up being offered any colour for free and a couple of other items FOC.

Sometimes manufacturers are very poor at communicating changes. Nissan discontinued the Qashqai+2 several months earlier than they'd announced to the network. There were even Nissan GB staff that weren't aware!

Have you asked the dealer to search the dealer network?

Actually test drove a GT86 before ordering the RCZ. Nice though it was it had a couple of problems
1) I have a 7, handling was not quite up to 7 standards
2) The boot was a lot smaller than the RCZ
3) You can fit a towbar to the RCZ, not an option for the Toyota.

Basically I already have the highly impractical but good to drive car, I didn't want another one. The RCZ was actually the practical option, and its better looking to boot.

Buy a Megane RS. More practical than an RCZ.
