Probably wrong place, I seem good posting on the wrong page.

Question. I have always been led to believe if your car gets damaged, or broken into, tell your insurers, and I recall a story some years ago about a driver claiming for the theft of his car radio, in conversation with the insurers he mentioned it was the second time it had been nicked, but replaced it himself.

Asked if he had reported he said no why? They said if he had reported it they may have increased his premium, and refused to pay for the damage for the claim he was putting in.

Not wishing to get into a debate whether this was wrong or not the question is.

My pal had his new car for a week, only 19, and his insurance was quite reasonable, anyway the other day, he was driving home along some country roads and a young deer jumped out of the hedge, he hit it, causing just over £2,000 of damage.

Rather than loose the no claim he is trying to build up, he is quite happy to pay for the repair himself.

So should he tell his insurers about this or not?

That's it, short sweet answer is all is needed.

Tks guys.
