Importing a 1994 Car from Germany
Discussion
Looking to import a 1994 car.
The car has a kmh speedo. Does that have to be changed to a mph speedometer before the car can be registered/MOE'd?
What else has to be changed. Local DVLA offices have now closed so cannot pop down there and ask, and DVLA website not too helpful.
A quick guide from someone who has imported recently would be most helpful. Thank you.

Nope. Because it's >10yo, it only needs an MOT not a CoC, and the MOT man doesn't care about mph markings on speedos.
That sounds rather easy to do, so let me get this right:MOT, fill in V55/5 and that's it?
Tried to call DVLA - all of their 270 lines are busy... nightmare.

A little bit more to it...MOT, fill in V55/5 and that's it?
MOT (on VIN or foreign plates), insurance (on VIN or foreign plates), foreign paperwork (or other proof of age), NOVA certificate (fill in NOVA form online, nothing to pay since it's used and coming from EU), V55/5, money for tax + first reg fee.

You simply go to the local DVLA office and they sort it all out..

Ah..
Last import I UK-reg'd, I did it over the counter at the local office. They checked it all over, and took it from me.
Ah..
Two weeks later, it came back to me from Swansea in the post. I'd forgotten to sign the sodding form...
You can MOT it on it's German number, the tester can fill in the country of registration when logging on the test. Remember that the headlamps and rear fog lamp should conform to UK test standard and the emissions should conform to those relevant for its date of first use for which you'll need to provide proof of for the test.
