Recently been looking for a second car for my girlfriend to drive and to do the odd track day/b road trip in.

The problem being , I'm 22 and she's 19. Insurance is the problem.

First was looking at a clio 172/MX5 etc. but even the 90bhp MX5 is astronomical to insure. I put the details in for a 100hp and it came out at a reasonable-ish price.

My last car was a Clio RS200 which I loved, is it asking too much for the little FIAT to be of a similar ilk (obviously with half the power!) The daily is an M135i so I'm not too concerned that it won't light the world on fire.

Any other suggestions for a cheap to insure, fun to drive little car (106 1.3 Rallye?) are appreciated.

Cheers.

Suzuki Swift Sport wink

Otherwise a panda looks good fun. Several people I know spoke highly of them.

Being a Peugeot fan, I can assure you it will probably be cheaper to get either of the above than a 106 rallye. Getting very rare now. S1's are several thousand easily.

Rover 114GSI
MG ZR 1.4/1.8
E30 316
Alfa 145
206 XSi
205 GTI 1.6
Daihatsu YRV/Copen
Toyota Starlet SR
Suzuki Cappucino
Toyota Sera

I don't know if any of these will help, I've basically tried to find cars that aren't massively popular with younger drivers (apart from the Peugeot and MG), may help with insurance and some older cars may be insurable as modern classics (If you can find a company that would insure a younger driver on a classic policy)

Mate of mine has done a couple of trackdays in his OH's 100hp, epic body roll in the corners but he had a laugh, the lad who was sharing it with him on the last one found out it is possible to spin one on a damp track biggrin

1.4 FIRE engine, 6 speed gearbox, they are cracking cars as standard.

Do you want to be talked out of a 100HP? wink
