Rolls Royce -- Would You Buy One?

I really want to like the current generation cars and have no doubt they are fine things, but to me they are so bloody vulgar. I can live with vulgar (I own a gold car for heavens sake) but the "face" of the current cars is awful. Headlights too small, all too square too Teutonic.
Now an early Shadow.....yes please. Very modern at the time with a wonderful tall classy presence. A mate of my Dads had a light gold Shadow II when I was a kid in the 1970s. I prefer the simple lines of the Shadow I. I see one regularly parked in a farmyard on the A75 in Galloway. It is. Slowly recycling it's self back into iron ore. So sad.
The Spirit and Spur have an 80s charm to them like a Jag XJ40 has.
Never really thought that much of the Corniche.
The Camargue (SP?) is ugly but has a 1970s charm to it.
I think the Seraph to me is the ultimate "modern" Rolls with enough retro styling to suggest the heritage combined with modern car features, airbags, etc.

I would love to have one, but I doubt I ever will because even though a youngish used one might be attainable, I seriously doubt I'll ever be wealthy enough to be nonchalent about having one which I perceive to be a vital part of owning one. I can't help but think that if I owned one and cared about it, I'd just feel like a prat and a pretender.

So yes I would buy a Rolls-Royce, but not a new one.
Nope, they've never done anything for me. A Roller is something to be driven in, not driven IMO and I much prefer to drive myself about.
Cant help but think that you'd find yourself sat in in traffic with people looking at you thinking "I wonder who they're picking up"

They are ugly as sin, all square and lumpy, with those awful slitty headlights, and I hate the gradual erosion of the old Parthenon grille.
The current models are brash, flash and tasteless, and a German's idea of what a British car should be like.
But a nice maroon Shadow 1 or MPW/Corniche fixed head coupe might be nice. I loved the effortless cool of the knackered one that Jools Holland and Roland Rivron tooled around in in The Groovy Fellas years ago on C4.

An ex-neighbour of mine back in the late 90's owned a lovely early 70's Corniche which was his weekend toy, pride & joy. Some of the bills he used to tell me about were horrific though
