It really is all about price I guess.

Having taken 8 months to sell a 1995 Daimler, and then back to the dealer I bought it from at 50% of what I paid a year earlier(he is a nice guy though so I'm not angry), I was dreading selling my Yamaha bike.

It had no tax or MOT and needed a service, but was a 2009 bike and had only done only 5000, so I pitched it at 66% of what the dealers where advertising at.

It was advertised on Ebay at 6am this morning, had the first offer at 7am and several more after, and it's now been taken and paid for by a dealer.

7 hours from start to finish.

Beat that if you can ...

Less than 10 hours to sell a 1998 Peugeot 306 1.9TD ... It was my first car and had mismatched paintwork, dents in the roof and a knocking noise on full lock. The bloke drove down from Birmingham (100 miles) and bought it for £800 cash!

That said, my very sorted and upgraded Elise S1 took 3 months to sell at £7.5K. Have a look at the prices now!

I had bought a snotter 106 Gti as a stop gap whilst looking for my next daily and had only had it a week or two, when someone from the neighbourhood walked past and enquired about it.

He offered £100 more than I paid for it, and walked to the local cash point. 30 minutes later the car was gone.

Fiat Cinq Sporting

Failed MOT, 140k miles 99p start £100 BIN (I owned it 10 years and bought it at 3k so figured i had extracted all the use i and my extended family were going to get from it)

SOLD! in about 2 hours. Set it on a 7 day auction on a Saturday night about 6pm on timed start auction as i new i was going out for a few jars was sold by the time i got home!

Washed it, hoovered it and parked it up in a lay bay on a main round. Popped to mums for Sunday lunch, was just tucking into my yorkie when the phone rang. Got full asking price 20 mins and a short test drive later

20 minutes on Ebay for a Flymo petrol hovermower on Buy It Now. It wasnt even priced stupidly, it went for a very fair amount.

A friend of mine parked his Nissan Sunny in the carpark of a supermarket with a For Sale sign in the window (£300). He hadn't got down the road before someone had phoned, he walked back, the bloke drove it around the carpark, got the cash out and bought it there and then.

This was 10 years ago and I bet it's still running.

Technically not sold till delivered and paid for, till then only ordered.

I've delivered them before they were ordered.

Was having a brew in the garage when they had an enquiry about a 111r; could they source a mint example.

Advertising had not even started.

Chap came down, gave deposit, bought car, wrecked it 4 months later.

Ha. In my house, giant yorkies are served as a starter, not on the dinner. So I was actually tucking into my starter.

This week I advertised my MX5 in the classifieds at 8pm Sunday, had a phone call 10am Monday with a viewing a deposit taken at 7pm, then the car was collected at 6pm Tuesday!!

Never sold a car that quick before and never will again. The couple drove to us (living in Surrey then) the next day from Wales and drove it away very happy.
