Dry pour (petrol )

Topped up my car this morning as it had nothing in it. Put in a good amount ready for a hoon, paid and jumped back in, range is still 68 miles. Petrol station insist the pump is working but I am having to wait for an audit of the pump. Nightmare. Was just wondering if anyone else has had a similiar issue and easy it was to resolve?

Surely you'd have realised if it wasn't pumping fuel? Or are you suggesting it was pumping but not enough?

What does the actual gauge say? The range is a calculated figure based on driving style etc so may need time to calibrate its new volume of fuel ?

Erm surely you just have to ask yourself whether you felt fuel going in or not.

Now a fuel pump doesn't have the same sort of feedback as a lotus Elise, but you'd be able to tell when petrol is flowing or not!

Could the fuel level sensor be stuck/broken? On an old Z3 I had it stopped working and showed near empty and --- on the range, regardless of petrol going in. Annoyingly it happened over 1000 miles away from home on holiday, so rather than top up when the light came on, I had to stop more frequently incase I ran out. Of course I used the trip to give me an idea of distance travelled, but that car would do between 200 and 300 miles in a tank.

I think its this. It felt like it was. I am pretty sure its not a fault with car.

Don't think you can dip a tank on 997. Might be wrong though.

Use another pump, brim it, should give an idea how much you had in there to start with. Let them re-imburse you at a later date if needed.

Its a GT2. Just checked it and it still says 68 miles. I am sure its the pump, as Porsches never have mechanical issues
