The car you were most excited about?

After 3 years of dreary Corsa ownership, I picked up my new car this week. Nothing interesting, rare or exciting. A '60 plate Nissan Qashqai with all the gadgets. Really nothing to write home about. But I couldn't help get excited the evening before I went to collect it. I have no idea why, perhaps knowing I wouldn't have to drive the uncomfortable, boring and slow Corsa again.
The Qashqai isn't fast, sporty or a "PH'ers car" per se, It it however a lovely to be in compared to the previous Vauxhall offering. The feeling I got was similar to that of picking up my first car. I even look out the window to see if the Qashqai is still on the drive!

No car was more exciting in prospect than my first, a 7-year old 1.2 Renault Clio. Even after 3 years of ownership I didn't find it dreary or boring, I loved it. I was equally excited by my second car, two years later, a Caterham 7- a much more exciting car.
ETA: I'm afraid the Corsa C was just an awful car. A lot of people think I'm wrong, but in my experience those people are the ones who haven't had the chance to know better. I learned to drive in one and frequently drive my Mum's when I can't avoid it- I hate them.
ETA: I just checked- you had a Corsa D. A markedly better car, but still I agree with your opinion on them!

It was a Vauxhall Astra in 2006. I'd had better cars -that's to say posher cars - but this Astra was for my girl friend -now wife.
The first big thing we bought together.

Although we viewed and bought on the same day, I had butterflies on the way over!
I was 23 and my old man and I went to Birmingham to view (we had seen a few bad ones by this point). When we got there we both looked at the house, in a particularly bad state of repair, and thought that this was not a good sign! Went in and the house was almost a shell, it was worse that the exterior... Anyway, he takes us out to the back and there is a garage, almost the size of the house, sparkling clean in the inside, decorated and flooring better than the house with the cosworth under a sheet!
Anyway, the car was in stunning condition, flint grey (F575 UHK) 2wd with its original orange indicators! We bought it and I had an extremely fun run back to Nottingham.. It had been mildly fettled so was a bit of a weapon back in 2003.
Just like you, I used to go into the garage to make it was there and smell that oily mechanical smell that you don't get so much with new cars (probably because they don't leak so much oil!).
Was a great car and I wish I had stuck it into a garage rather than sell 3 years later...

The only car I've ever really gotten excited about upon purchase is my 200 Coupe, I saw one long before I could drive and I loved it from that moment on and wanted one. Ten years after getting my licence I could finally afford to buy and insure one and, nearly ten years later I've still got it (and spending an inordinate amount on keeping it going in the process 
).
- I wouldn't say Qashqai's are slow judging by the way the silly sods drive them around my neck of the woods, white one's seem to be the fastest though

They are more refined but still horrendously boring.ETA: I'm afraid the Corsa C was just an awful car. My first car was a 106 1.4 Quicksilver, couldn't afford a GTi. I loved every second of driving it. Fantastic fun. It would never work though. Hence the Corsa came along.
My Qashqai is black, couldn't afford the white super charged one!

This is just it. If you really love cars, you get excited about anything new. I've got a nice family car (2012 5 series), a nice Sunday car (TVR) yet I've just ordered a Seat Ibiza 1.2 Tdi for the wife yet I know I'm going to be excited about driving that when it comes.
This isn't about what car it is, it's about what sort of person you are.
Probably this one 2007 BMW 535d M Sport, factory ordered brand new to my spec. First LCI 5 series into Northern Ireland, waited four months on it.
Got the Schnitzer front splitters and rear diffuser fitted.
Loved that car.
Obligatory remap to around 350BHP.
Stupidly sold it at 9 months old.
Previous to that it would have been this -
2001 Alfa 156 v6 Veloce. Bought at 3 years old from an Alfa main dealer.

A little similar to me I had a 2.9 v6 xr4x4 when I was 20 and loved it but then sold it to buy a house and then bought another shortly after same colour and kept it for over 5 years until someone jumped a red light on me and wrote it off! 
Always wanted a cossie drove loads of them but never owned one sadly, I have got excited about all the cars I have owned to be honest its such a great feeling getting a new car, I remember not sleeping a wink the night before I picked up my E92 M3...but the reality didn't match the anticipation with that in the end though.
I was incredibly excited about picking my Cerbera up but then worried sick on the drive home that it was going to overheat and then brake down because of all the stuff you read about them, I made it home...but it wasn't long until it did brake down!
2006, in my twenties when I bought an E46 M3. They were still just a current model at the time and though I'd had E46's, S3's etc before, none were what you would call a real performance car (I'm not saying the E46 M3 still is - I'm not so sure). I had the most amazing year with that car and I was excited about it from the outset, and didn't sleep before picking it up. I don't think anything has really matched that level of excitement and enjoyment since, partly because it was the first taste of something like that.
I'm looking for my first Ferrari at the moment - F430 - and though it should feel pretty good, I don't think it will match the experience above.

I loved mine, and I so regret selling it. I'd still have it today. Sure they're crashy, not refined, not comfy, not great by todays standards as a DD, but once the turbo spools up, they come into their own. I considered buying one when I got my M5. I kinda regret not getting another.

A friend of mine had a couple both stage 1 and whenever I got a go in them I just loved it but I am a big Ford fan boy so maybe I could never see any flaws! the first one he owned had a tough life and he was forever having turbo problems and it smoked really bad! he blew the turbo again having some fun with me in my old 200sx...they were good times! I loved mine, and I so regret selling it. I'd still have it today. The second one he had was almost concourse so that was very sweet to drive and I agree I think I missed out not experiencing the ownership enjoyment.
