Is there any point owning more than 2 cars ?

I may be given a car by my grandfather who is giving up driving at 93 year old. (sad but about time...)
Problem is I already have my own car (Toyota mr2 mk3) and my wife has her own car (Hyundai i20).
It is a Skoda Felicia 1.3 LXi that worth nothing, maybe a £500 but I don't want hassles from unwashed people kinds who buy £500 cars. It is too nice to be scrapped/crushed.
So what do you use your 3rd or more car for?

Car No.1: Porsche 911 - for sporty fun use; for driving for the pure enjoyment of it.
Car No.2: Nissan X-Trail - general purpose workhorse and Family truck. Park it anywhere without a care so great for shopping trips, has a basic 4x4 system for winter.
Car No.3: Mini Cooper S: wife's car for commuting to work and for fun; it has loads of character and is a joy to drive.

I earn over £30k a year, own two houses, have a personal pension (I'm coming across all 'Powerfully Built Director' here, aren't I?) and the last three cars I bought have all been £500-ish - £100 Citroen XM, £600 Triumph Stag and a £500 Saab.
Just because you choose to spend more money on your vehicle of choice doesn't mean that everyone spending less is a knuckle-dragger.
But back to the point, no there is absolutely no point in owning more than two cars, which is why I have six, and two motorbikes

Where are you going with that stereotype? the 80's?Suck it up buttercup, put it on eBay, deal with whoever buys it. Have a shower after if you must. Be £500 better off without the continuing issue of a car you don't need taking up space.
Owning more than two cars is an increasing trend reflected in insurers fighting for business with multi car policies....
There are many advantages not least of which is to annoy the neighbours incessantly with early morning startups, car shuffling etc.....
Probably the best reason for owning and driving more than 2 cars is the variety it offers.....it is often hard to truly appreciate a nice car until you drive a shed and also perhaps a 'halfway house' car.....and it is often the case as much fun and interest can be had in a snotter as something truly tasty.......

I want to change the Vectra for a 4x4 for the winter. Probably an old Cayenne. Might get an LPG job done to that.
Will probably chop the Pug for a Nissan Leaf to make my boring work commute cheap.
Probably will chop the Boxster in for a Turbo Cab. Or could go mental and get a 'rari.

The car he has been given is too similar to the wives so not much point.
We don't know too much about his lifestyle but if it was a 4x4 and he had a dog yes but in his case with that car it would seem not.

Have a drive of it and see what you think.
It may have a nice feel about it or it could be horrid.
If it is a nice drive then there is your justification.
If not, sell it and buy your grandad something really cool.
There's likely to be Worthers Originals in every nook and cranny too.

Grand cherokee for dog/ wood/ general work horse.
