E90 iDrive availability

When iDrive was launched I remember some BMW spokesman telling us it was the way forward and that cars had become too complicated to rely on just stalks and buttons.

Now looking at the E92 330d m-sport coupe I see that many of them don't have iDrive and do still rely on stalks on buttons.

So was it just an option across the range or only standard on some very high spec cars ?

iDrive was an option (and an expensive one, which is why a lot of BMWs don't have it).

Older CCC systems (disc based nav) are a bit clunky,but still worth it.However,with the CIC systems (hard drive)they've gotten progressively better and (in my opinion) are definitely worth having.
You can retrofit the whole systems into cars without them and also upgrade from the older systems to the newer.
