10k Weekend car

Hello guys,, I have finally got a garage big enough to get 2 cars in and the children have left home so I am looking for a weekend car for up to 10K.It needs to be something that I am not going to look out of place driving as I am trucking on now, I don't want a soft top and I want something that won't cost the earth to maintain, any suggestions anyone ???

- E46 M3 - a classic, and great for a weekend drive.

- Probably get yourself a 996 if you fancy one of those (although I wouldn't at that budget level)

Trust me, he'll need more than 10K to get a decent one without issues, to be fair they will all have 'some' issues but that seems cheap for what it is.

I think that as the OP has removed 90% of the usual 'fun' car suggestions by stipulating no soft tops, and his budget, while healthy, precludes anything properly 'supercarish', then the 996 is the perfect choice. I'd advise him to do what you did and get one that's had an engine rebuild though, as otherwise he will lie awake at night muttering 'IMS, IMS, IMS...'

The cars I have considered so far are 996,( concerned about by engine issues) Audi TT Nissan 350Z and even a Maserati 3200.I am trying to avoid huge service bills though so that rules out my Italian choice.

Z4 3.0si Coupe - might need to accept higher than average miles mind you for 10k or less.

Cracker of an engine (and a decent boot so you can go away for the weekend with more than just a toothbrush!)

I sold my Boxster for a more sensible BMW - still wanted something fun to drive so I bought a Chimaera as a second car. If it's a car to be used on sunny days and for fun drives, then this would def. fit your bill.

The chap at my local car spares shop has the Maserati and he has had a run of bad luck with it, havent seen him for a while since I bought my 350Z....

I do like the TT, love the interior and nearly bought one but though fairly quick they are a bit inert, where the 350Z is just a big, daft, old school dinosaur but is decently quick, pretty capable handler and good fun.
