Has anyone upgraded their stereo on a lease car?

I've got an amplifier and subwoofer lying around (good quality kit) from an old car, I'm due my new leased motor next month and was wondering if anyone has done it before?

It's the new golf R, the standard stereo is lacking the low down bass I miss so I'm tempted to put it in.

I had it in my A6, I got a decent company to install all the wires so it worked with the standard headunit etc. I know I'd have to return it back to standard but what's peoples thoughts?

Although I've never had a lease deal, surely if installed & removed professionally, then how would they know? ;-) (unless you have an accident ofc!)

I wouldn't unless you could do it without having to drill through anything. I suppose they will only make an issue of it if they know it's been done, right?

An amp and sub should be easy enough to be unnoticable, a friend had a Parrot put in one as he thought they came with B/T but turned out his order didnt so retrofitted something

No problem at all as long as you can return it to 'pre-install' condition. I had a Type-R on lease when they first came out, and the dealer fit options of iPod connector, ambient lighting and bass works kit all were not worth adding to the lease 'build'. I got the car, bought the bits, fitted them myself (thanks Mr Honda for including all the instructions including how to strip th dash!!). Upon giving the car back, I took them all out and flogged them on eBay. Job done.

Incidently, my Golf R lease comes in six weeks or so too so I'd be interested in what you do and whether it improves the sound much. I also need to track down some Pretoria wheels...... I got a cancelled order from before the prices went up so I had to accept what was already specced...
