Hi, I hoping that someone is able to help me.

My friend died in a car accident early April, his widow has asked me to deal with the car and insurance company. I'm on top of obtaining the missing paperwork, my problem is the car.

The insureance company has classed the car as a CAT B. The car, which although is of no significant value, is quite rare. His widow would like the remaining parts that are salvageable to be recovered to help keep the remaining fleet road worthy.

Because the insureance has classed the car as a CAT B, they will not sell the car back. The company that are currently holding it will put it up for auction, but it can only be bought by a salvage yard (who hold an environmental waste management licence).

Can anyone recommend a 'friendly' salvage yard in the Bristol area, that would be willing to purchase it on my behalf and allow me on site to dismantle the vehicle?

Thank you

(Mods - I wasn't sure where this should go)

I dont really understand why she wants it back, a cat B as Im sure your aware can only be broken up for parts. So whoever buys it at the auction will end up breaking it up anyway to keep the rest of the fleet alive.

As above really, your hands are tied, but explain that it's something that they would do anyway, but on a larger scale?

Out of interest, What car was it? (if not to sensitive)

Try the South West forum too - there might well be someone there who can help.

The car is/was a Honda S800. I'll try the SW forum.

Thanks

Agreed - the salvage company who buy it will effectively be carrying out her wishes anyway.
