Sorry fella but hopefully you are ok.
I am ok, bit sore as my head hit the top of the windowscreen, and my ribs are a bit tender from the seat belt but its minor. The sill has got damag, so pretty sure they will write it off. Just wondering whata likely setelment figure will be.
Make sure you have any 'before and after' photos of your work available and ready to send on via disc or email.
Also any receipts of materials and/or parts and outside labour, to prove that this was no 'snotter'.
Old mots to prove low mileage could be helpful.
If their offer isn't what you are expecting, challenge the insurance company to find one in similar condition with such low miles for a comparison ! ( as long as you do your homework...)
Oh.... and has been mentioned..... Buy it back
Good luck !
eta... Is it on classic insurance ?? If so, how much per annum.. Compare fix cost to mx5(through not claiming) to the increase in premiums on other policies if you DO make a claim !

If this happened today.. And you got sore ribs and head, just wait till tomorrow it's going to hurt like hell. As for the car insurance company will pay you (try) market value which will be a low ball offer. As many have said, do your research fo adverts of equivalent mileage spec year, condition. Secondly go see the doc, if you have bruised ribs you need to make sure nothing untoward....oh, I'm not into blame culture but it's a fact ...You have technically been injured in this accident( police should have been present/called) you have a claim on this and likely worth more than the car.

I am actually OK this morning... and definitely not into claim culture...It has made me think however that 1/10 of a second later and I would have hit the side of him... and the result to me from that would have been VERY different in a 20 years old car with no impact protection or air bags...
Made me think a bit to be honest...
