So I'm 6ft 8" and I've been looking for a sports/gt car for some time now. It seems that whatever car i try and get in my long legs prevent me from being able to turn the steering wheel or my size 12 feet are too big for the pedals. I've tried Lotus, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Maserati and all have been too small for me. I just managed to squeeze into the Ferrari California with the steering wheel raised up to its highest point but my feet were too big for the paddles. Two years ago I owned a bentley continental GT which was spacious enough and had the speed, quality and wow factor I was looking for but I sold it to help me pay for a house extension. Anyway I'm now in the market for something different and I hope some fellow giants out there can give me some advice on what you drive. I've contemplated going for something much older like a classic sports car but I have no idea where to start. Ideally I would love a convertible - preferably 4 seater but 2 seater would suffice. Budget is anywhere between £20k - £40k - hope someone can offer me advice.

How about a Mercedes SL AMG or BMW M6? Plenty of go, plus plenty of space in both.

Buy an Evora; take the front seats out and sit in the back. driving

More seriously, try the SLK - it has an enormous amount of legroom. TVRs tend to be good for tall drivers, too. Still, if you're 6'8 and unusually long in the leg, you're probably going to struggle in anything.

Every Merc I've ever driven has always had masses of travel on the seat. I had a CLK for a while and with the seat right back I couldn't touch the wheel or pedals (I'm 6')

SL63?

I did own a merc 230 clk about 8 years ago and you are totally right there is good legroom in these for even someone of my height, I guess I was looking for something a little bit different that felt special to drive for weekends etc. Thanks for the advice though my search continues...

I've seen 6'8" Caterham owners. The SV and CSR models with a few tweaks might work if you're after a 'proper' sports car.

The seat can be replaced with a bag seat, the floor lowered, and the pedals moved back.

Tall and enough cash to buy a Ferrari...are you a pro baller smile

I'm 6'6", size 12 shoe and struggle to fit in cars but I wish I had your budget! I fit in my girlfriends MINI ok though, and my Integra was ok as the seat was nice and low (not that that helps you OP)!

You'd fit all day long in my TVR Typhon. That has a massive amount of legroom and head room and the rear seats are very useable unlike almost any other 2+2.

I'm 6"5 and when I sat in an SL a couple of months back I couldn't see past the top of the windscreen where the roof attaches. This was with the seat all the way down and back so I can't see the OP squeezing into one.

Honda NSX or Honda S2000. The S2000 may not be a sports car per se, but they are fun and reasonably quick if you drive it like you should.

S2000 for someone tall with long legs? I'd be really surprised. I'm "only" 6'3" and I could only just barely get my legs into the thing with the seat all the way back, never mind finding a decent driving position.

True, a bit of budget spent on some nice seats will help. The standard seats are going to make a snug fit for someone over 6 2.

Something a bit older but how about An E31 8-Series?

Great driving position for the taller gentleman.
