Goodwood Breakfast thoughts

The following is my somewhat light hearted look at this mornings Supercar Sunday.
To begin, the alarm goes off at early o'clock. At least half the lure of going is the drive down. Check outside, weather looks nice. Let's go.
After the speedo checking monotony of the A3' off at Petworth for some more interesting roads. Now I'm behind a van, who is behind a Shogun dragging a horse box who in turn, unbelievably, is behind a Robin Reliant. I have two older chaps behind me a 360.
My rolling road block are all bunched up behind each other, constantly just under the limit. Eventually this problem is overcome. A few minutes of pleasant Mr Toad style motoring, then I'm behind some sort of biker. Possibly the slowest biker to draw breath. I thought when you dress up like the Dark Knight to go out the idea was you pushed on. At the very least I expect you to ride to the conditions, if not the limit. Not straddle the middle of the road at 8mph below the limit at all times.
What's that about?
So eventually I'm there. I've been going for years. Never, ever seen as many people there as there were this morning. It reminded me of shuffling around East Lane market when my parents took me as a kid. Along the straight you literally couldn't move. The interesting cars all 5 deep in balding, overweight, middle aged white men all trying to out fact each other, regurgitating magazine accrued knowledge and voicing there opinions on what they ; "would have". Some sort of diesel I would imagine.
Lots of younger guys wearing polo shirts who look like they could introduce other body parts to their training regimes other than arms. Are skinny jeans still fashionable for men?
As usual a distinct lack of those with vagina. Some women there, clearly under protest. One young lady looked quite distraught trundling a GT3RS out of the car park. She actually looked ready to vomit. Bless.
Another observation. Literally, thousands of people there. Why is nearly everyone white? I don't usually notice that kind of thing but it struck today as being a very mono environment.
Great cars, as usual. Those in the car park as interesting as many on the circuit. 911's are more common here than Fiestas at Asda. I was surprised to see so many had made it onto the circuit. I peeped in at a few out of interest and was surprised how low many of the mileages appeared to be. My 993 has done 65k now, with me putting on the last 11k in 4 years. I thought that was low but compared to some of the cars there mine looks like Han Solo's staff car. Nice yellow RS showing 41k. A fair few 993's trying to look like RS but failing to differing degrees (sunroof delete?)
Nice bit of breakfast but it's so, so busy there now. I don't want to sound like one of those people who complains the book was always better than the film, but it used to feel far more informal for the Breakfast club. It's now completely corporate and I feel something has been lost as result.

Goodwood is popular. Supercars are popular as in aspirational to the majority of folks. The Goodwood estate most likely wants to maximise on it as well. Breakfast meets are a good idea as you can then do whatever with the family, and YouTube also made it rather popular to publish stuff. Last week at Wilton House there was a lot of filming and a load of stuff ended up on YouTube. It's the economy of today.The soft top one may not be as popular.
