Do they actually crush seized "nice" cars?

I was watching "parking mad" on bbc on Thursday and there was a lot of talk about seizing cars and then talking about crushing them if they're not collected within 5 days and it got me thinking. Do they ever crush "nice" cars? Also, are they allowed to crush just anyone's car. As in, there are so many leased and financed cars on the road, is it actually legal for them to crush them based on the driver's negligence?

I thought they said that they auction them to retrieve the payments?

I think that was down to them not knowing what it, was assumed it old and worthless.

Council workers need to acknowledge that they know nothing about anything though, and further more that them trying to think on an empty head is bad for everyone else. That absolutely cannot be an excuse.

I used to be a fairly regular visitor to a breakers near wokingham. there were always cars going in to the "must be crushed" side that were much nicer than mine... There is a small parking area by the weighbridge and I used to wonder about someone mistaking mine for one that was for the crusher

The 'incident' with the Bristol (in the DM link) happened almost 10 years ago (December 2004), not that this detracts in any way from the horror of the story...

I'm sure the owner aired this story and his feelings about it on PH several years ago?

Wonder what the final outcome was?

I was thinking the same hopefully he managed to get as much as possible, it's hard to put a price on something so rare.
