Just been browsing various classifieds for cheap turbo charged cars (petrol), and there hardly seems to be any these days!

I remember a time where turbo cars were 10 a penny for under £1k. I bought a Rover 820 Vitesse Sport for £600 back in 2005 (and this was a 1995 car).

Where are they all???

I think inflation happened to them. £1000 is quite a lot less now than it was ten years ago. Up your budget to £2k or even £1500 and you'll start finding things.

Most of those old ones are dead, killed by the scrappage scheme
Their replacements (as new cars) were mainly diesels.

They fell out of fashion until relatively recently. Saab and Volvo were the notable holdouts. Should be some VAG 1.8 T's around in budget too? Give it a few more years and they'll be ten a penny again as values drop on the stuff from the late 2000s.

2005 is nigh on ten years ago. They've either rotted/been scrapped/crashed and noone was willing to fix them as they were worth so little.

A minority will have survived and appreciated due to lack of supply.

T5s, Mr2 Mk2s, etc.

Be careful what you buy.

Lots of weasel's out there if turbo and performance don't go together for you!

MK1 TT's are pretty cheap at the high mileage end of the market. Lot's of people will slate the image, but 225hp and 4 wheel drive makes a good argument in my opinion.

my Audi a4 turbo quattro sport was 650 with 12 mot and 9 tax..

The owner forgot to say the turbo didn't work thou frown

but a GTRs one is about 900 quid and you can get about 350 bhp with mods so not all bad..
