Frightening and disturbing things while driving.
Discussion
What frightening, dangerous or down right weird things have happened to you while driving?
Just after I'd passed my test I misjudged a mini roundabout and failed to give way to a driver on my right. He immediately shouted a load of abuse at me and honked his horn. Then I turned into a street that was not my usual route (due to going somewhere else after work) and he turned in behind me and overtook me and slammed his brakes on. I thought he was going to get out so I reached for my heavy duty torch but he then sped away.
Partly my fault but surely there was no need for his reaction. I've always had a grudge against drivers who are blasting the horn in a second and shouting abuse as though they are primed and ready to do it all the time.
I'll think of a few more things that have happened, but what are your stories?

Pulling off from a set of traffic lights, getting part of the way up the road and seeing a horse on my side of the carriageway oncoming. Wondering why someone would ride their horse on the wrong side of the road I realised that there were two horses, running towards us, with no riders or visibility stuff on. They were in the middle of the road as well, so it became a game of chicken between me and a horse at one point.
I should point out it was dark and slightly misty, hence the amount of time it took to realise this.

in my younger foolish days, "just nippeddown the garage" on my motorbike to get a bit for the car wearing crash helemet shoes and coveralls with just the "essentials" underneath, got a wasp flew in through a gap betweent the buttons on the coveralls, managed to stop pretty sharpish!! bonnet flying up, obscuring view completly when driving over a narrow bridge in the village where I live.
A few miles after being overtaken at considerable speed on the M11 by a van full of building workers there they were, up the embankment, van on its side, blokes and tools and tool boxes all spread around. The blokes were all so shocked. Some sitting, some laid out flat, some trying to stand up. It was so surreal. It was just after the on slip of a junction and a lot of cars had stopped. One of the most nightmarish scenes I have ever seen.
Whilst on a hoon in the country side, came around a corner in my Mk3 MR2 to be faced with a overtaking Range Rover on my side.. Missed a head on by releasing the brakes at the last second and going cross country off the road.. Bloody Range Rover towered over me and would have driven over my head!
Drove home gingerly and sold the MR2 (made of tin foil) and bought a Porsche 987S instead

Spider from the Sun Visor - Twice FFS!
Very much this. Was a few years ago and thankfully I was in the left Lane so could dive on to the hard shoulder jump out the car and just about strip naked to find the thing. It descended from the sun visor and was then blown by the vent, landed on my chest and vanished into my shirt.
When I got home and told my loving wife of my ordeal she told me to and I quote "man up on that s
t" heartless woman, the thing was almost the size of a 5p coin! That's a category 4 that is FFSGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
