Little things that make driving enjoyable
Discussion
I like missing the cats eyes when changing lanes and, in heavy rain, I love that momentary silence as you pass under a bridge.
And I really enjoy not using the brakes. Admittedly I leave for work at 05:30 but with forethought, engine braking and a bit of luck, I can go for miles without braking. My record is Newbury to Kingston Bridge; it's over 50 miles. The rules are: no sneaky handbraking and you can't inconvenience other drivers. You find you drive really smoothly.
Oh yes, and before indicators had a mind of their own, I used to like not cutting them off but having whole flashes.
OCD? Me? Get out of it, it's just passing the time.

Are you permitting engine braking? I also do the no brakes thing - I had a chap between me and an artic today who was braking all the time (he was following too close, but all the same!), I was pleased to note that no brakes were actually needed...
Oh, yes. Forethought, engine braking and luck. I tried it in my wife's car, an automatic, and it's a lot harder.i do like when a lane at a junction which generally will have atleast one car, if mysteriously clear for once, and as you get there the roundabout is clear, or the traffic light goes green, and you can blast through a junction barely having to slow down when most days brings you to a complete stop.
I also like when you get into traffic in an area where you get multiple lanes for the same directions and you managed to predict the right lanes to be in and when to change lanes and manage to sail past huge numbers of cars without even having to do anything naughty by using the wrong lanes.

Surface changes - get quite a few on motorways.
For example - driving on concrete or an older ashphalt surface, then it changes to new ashphalt, then after a while back to the old surface.
I dunno why, but I like the tyre noise change. If I see a new bit of ashphalt coming up, I have been known to turn the stereo down to enjoy the change in noise:
SSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH - phhhwwwwwwwwwwww - SSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I find that by keeping a good distance on the motorway and looking well ahead several really satisfying things happen.
You almost never have to use your brakes.
Your Mpg Is hugely improved.
And for the same given route as your partner who doesn't practise the above and feels they drive "Faster" your average speed is higher.
A steady 65 will often beat a Kane changer who is heavy on the brakes and often tops 90mph.

Getting gear changes (manual transmission) just right and always being in exactly the right gear... If I can do that for an entire trip I am a happy man.
this^ also enjoy when I manage to avoid most of the red lights on a journey. Been trying to work out the exact timings to hit the green lights on my commute to Uni and back, so far only managed to do half the routeI used to have a 30 mile commute. I took strange pleasure in trying to make my range computer read higher at my destination than when I left. It was very doable, but the driving style required was very tedious! My man maths made me think I'd got to work for free
I also like driving in extreme weathers, especially heavy rain. I find it fascinating, and a test of observation.
Also, if I'm the first car approaching a red light, I like to time my approach so I can smoothly drive on as it turns green without stopping.
