Parking Sign Confusion

At 7.30pm on Sunday we pulled into an on-street parking bay and encountered the following sign.
Were we allowed to park there at that time and did we need to pay?

Doh! Just the signs & zones similar..and you can park at any time, but only pay between times advertised.

Double doh! Only when I got to work today I remembered that this picture is on the wall behind my desk...and has been for five years!
