I'll never be unkind about Ferrari Replicas again...

When the kit car market is awash with bespoke Cobra kits, why on Earth would anyone want to glue Cobra shaped fibreglass on to a (certainly beginning to rust underneath if not advanced yet) steel shelled BMW?
I simply cannot see why you wouldn't start with a bespoke kit.
Have you ever seen the price of a cobra kits or the price if iva to get it on the roads. Its 20k easy for a nice rep plus the almost 1k for iva with hiring a trailer fuel etc and the test itself.I simply cannot see why you wouldn't start with a bespoke kit.
This doesn't require an iva test which for one will save a lot of money sure its not to everyone taste but a nice 3.0 z3 as a donor with a cobra esk body can buy plenty of other worse things.

I like it. Take away the replica part and take it as it's own thing. The design looks good, flows well with the original Z3 body, it looks old yet it's got modern reliable mechanicals. Trying to pass it off as a real AC Cobra would be not cool, if it was mine i'd look to change a few things to make a little more different. I'd also bin that rear spoiler and put the Z3 interior back in.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say compared to some of the toe curling Ferrari replicas, and whatever the f@ck that monstrosity posted above is, the white car isn't so horrendous. I certainly wouldn't try and pass it off as any kind of AC Cobra replica, but just as a vehicle in it's own right it doesn't seem that terrible?

I know the prices and still can't see the appeal in weighing down an aging Z3 with fibreglass though. A replica of a really fast car that makes a nippy car heavier and slower than it started just seems incredibly naff to me. A proper replica will qualify for specialist insurance for a low price which more than offsets the IVA cost. This will have to be insured as a modified/boyracered Z3. Each to their own though...
The front's all proportionally incorrect and it'll never look like anything other than a badly gone wrong cobra wannabe. There's loads of classic english sports cars you could have tried this with and possibly got away with but the cobras too much of a legend, plus a cobra without the V8 burble/power would be like I dunno, Arnold Schwarzenegger with a high-pitched voice and a vagina.Chicane-UK said:
