Insurance policy overlaps, two different cars?

I am in the process of selling my car and buying a new one, insurance on my current car runs out next Wednesday/Thursday, hopefully giving me another years NCB (touch wood). My new car has the opportunity to be delivered this weekend, saving me a few difficult days with a car (taxis).

Any idea on how insurers view this? They usually give a couple of weeks to send through the NCB certificate, or am I risking coming unstuck for the sack of a couple of days.
