Re-registering a stolen recovered cloned car
Discussion
Has anyone had any experience of this and more importantly has anyone had any difficulties with DVLA?
Here's the scenario.
Classic car gets stolen and a 'fake' chassis number plate is fitted over the original chassis plate.
The vehicle is then re-registered with DVLA as a different vehicle- albeit obviously the same model of car.
Vehicle is sold on. New purchaser then discovers (whilst doing some restoration work) the original chassis number and does the right thing and contacts Police. The long and the short of it is that the new owner buys the car back from the insurance company who have already paid out to the pre-theft owner and he is now the sole interested party as far as the car is concerned.
Now- in terms of re-registering that vehicle on it's original number plate (pre theft) and getting the correct V5 can anyone foresee any problems or indeed has anyone experienced any such problems. V62 has been submitted to DVLA with accompanying letter.
