Depends what you mean by too far gone. A good one's worth rather a lot of money these days. All of the panels, moldings and other parts are available new so I have no doubt that a 'full restoration' of this car will be made. Judging by the photos that will effectively be a new car with this ones plates on it though.

How much is a Dino in that knackered a state worth?

I wouldn't say it is too far gone, but restoring that would surely be pretty damned expensive - are the panels/body shell even available, or would they need to be custom made? That would cost a right packet.

Beautiful cars though in my opinion.

could be properly restored for about 80K, they are simple cars, the panels would be custom made, there are restorers who could make panels from flat steel sheet

+1 sick of seeing 'barn find' when the likely hood is someone took it to a barn to take pics that very day, I saw a mower advertised as a 'barn find' what a joke! It doesn't mean anything now.

They are, aren't they. Beautiful little things and that colour (original, not the rust) helps with that modest beauty.

What I never understand is how, only 13k into ownership, does something like this end up parked in a barn never to see the light of day again. I always think the story behind how they end up, at a young age, abandoned like that is more intriguing than anything else.

That will get repaired - these things are worth so much these days that even the original registration with no physical car would probably result in a "rebuild".

IMO, the 206/246 Dino was the peak of Ferrari aesthetics; they started to go downhill from that point.
