Afternoon everyone,

I've been away from cars for about 18month due to having a child & saving for my wedding. Now that the wedding is over I'm starting to get the itch for something special smile

I've had a thing for the Maserati Ghibli since seeing one in performance car when I was 13years old & now 20years later I'm on the hunt for genuine info on buying/ running one.

Has anyone on here had any direct ownership experience, good or bad that you could share with me as I'm thinking of going to look at one tomorrow (it's only 40mins from where I'm working & it would be rude not to go see it )

I've posted this in the supercars forum (probably the wrong place but there was Maserati threads in there) but thought I'd stick it up here too incase anyone has any info.

Thanks in advance

Jamie

I was struck with the same desire for one since reading Performance Car too, although I'd have been a couple of years younger I think thumbup

In fact, I remember being a reader of Performance Car from around 97 up until it merged with Car, and being most annoyed as it basically just disappeared.

Ebay leads to a lot of very familiar magazine covers appearing!

That's the Ghibli I want, in the background on the right wink

^^^ My PC stash at home runs out from 1994, but I really need to get a copy of that for the V12 BMW Compact review. IIRC that's the Racing Dynamics K55

Issues with part availability from what I remember reading about Harry's Ghibli Cup. Searching for headlight glass took months etc.

So far, yes!
I've been driving big german barges for the past few years, so it's great to have a car where you can actually feel what's going on underneath you. It picks up speed effortlessly, with very little turbo lag considering the era it's from. Clutch is rather heavy, gearbox is sweet, steering has loads of feedback. Only downside so far, the engine is very quiet.

You can find my thread on here with a couple of pics, where I was looking for advice before taking the plunge:

Just found out the car I was going to look at is very tired & has had major rust repairs in the past. Will give it a miss & continue the search elsewhere.
