What Car!?!

Hi guys, long time lurker here first time posting!

This is a bit of a tricky what car post.. Requirements are:

Low mileage
Diesel
Automatic
Fairly modern
Coupe/saloon/hatchback
Engine size - not too bothered but has to be 2.0 or higher
£10k-15k - ideally closer to 10k
Has to be reliable!

The issue is the car will be sold on towards the end of September so I want something that will hold it's value the strongest AND will be easiest to sell on at that time.

Was looking at 335d's and 335i's but too much hassle with the OBD theft problems!
E-class coupe?
A5?
Golf GTD?

A software update to fix this has been available for some time.

If he is worried about OBD thefts that rules out all of his own list.

Jaguar XF - fits the bill perfectly. Don't know why you'd buy a car like this to sell on again in 4 months. Get it wrong and you could lose thousands.

edit: Just noticed the 'low mileage' requirement, which might not be available at this price point.

Way too many electrical problems with the early XF's

You do know Audis and VWs are stolen very easily too?

Not see the video last week of the new RS6 getting nicked?

Why are you deterred from the BMWs and not the others?

My first thoughts are that this strikes me as a bit odd. I don't really see the point in buying a car of that value if you have to get rid of it in September.

You say you are scared of big bills, a 335D can throw up some large bills and its not known to be most reliable of the diesel IL6 engines.

I'd get something like a A5 or Golf GTI and spend a bit less.

Nope haven't seen that - mainly due to the 150 odd page thread about the BMW's

Why don't you rent a car on a short term lease, personally I wouldn't bother spending that amount of money on a car I'm going to keep for 3-4 months id be spending £500 maximum.

I haven't seen the BMW thread rear its head for quite some time. It has went really quiet on the BMW forum too.

What about a Golf GTI MK6 or R32 MK5? Are they reliable and are they easy to sell?

The R32 won't be as sell-able due to the sheer size of the engine in comparison the the performance it offers.

You'll only have it for 4 months. Get it checked over before you buy. You'll be extrememly unlucky if a major electrical fault occurs in your four months of ownership.

If it's only for 4 months why not buy a £500 shed and sell it on once your done with it?
