Fuel gauge not working
Discussion
The fuel gauge on my car has stopped working and is constantly showing 1/4 full. Internet research suggests that the fuel sender unit may be at fault. Is this a reasonable assumption?
I don't think the pointer on the gauge is stuck because when the ignition is turned on all the pointers on the instrument cluster cycle around to max and then go back to their resting position.
If it is a faulty sender unit, how easy would this be to change at home, on the basis that I have a basic tool kit and limited technical ability? I realise that I will be opening the fuel tank and therefore there are risks associated with this, but wanted to know if any specialised tools are required and how easy it is to remove the sender unit. The car is a 2010 Dodge Journey.

Most probably.
