I was out in the car today when it was left in the sun for a while. Got back in and put the ventilated seats on to cool down and as the GF drove off (yes I let her drive occasionally) she commented about how hot the steering wheel was and why if you could heat it like the seats could you not cool it like the seats?! hmm interesting new option for an S class maybe a ventilated steering wheel??

What other options that are not currently available could you imagine being available over the coming years

Front windscreens that don't chip or crack.

(I love my ventilated seats too!)

A coffee maker linked via GPS to a traffic information system so that when a hold up is detected ahead, just as you slow to a halt, a perfect espresso is delivered for the driver's delectation.

A electronic screen used instead of a windscreen? It would avoid the need for expensive and easily damaged windscreens, and it would allow customisation of the screen itself which could remove the need for any kind of dashboard and subsequently avoid any of the driver's attention being diverted away from the road.

Coupled with adaptive cruise control and lane following you could then use the screen to play Gran Tourismo when you're on the motorway. smile

Some sort of piercing alarm, that if you disconnect it will make the car self combust, to tell you to pull into the left hand lane after overtaking.

Don't worry about hot steering wheels. When we get self driving cars, you won't need to touch the thing.

You can just kick back drinking espresso and eating your luxury potato.

Have you looked at cars from the 1960s recently?
