Car undriveable a week after purchase, but 2 hours away.RAC?
Discussion
Bought an MK5 Golf R32 last Friday from a smallish dealer specialising in performance saloons, sports cars etc.
Within a week it's developed a scraping/grinding noise when turning left. Couldn't find anything obvious when jacking it up, took it to a local VW specialist who was pretty sure it was the top mount.
Was in the process of either booking it in with them, or sorting it locally and they pay towards it.
However it's now developed wheel bearing type issues. Knocking and vibration that changes with speed, it's gone from almost nothing to almost undriveable in 48 hours, with very few miles driven.
I wouldn't want to drive it on the motorway the 2 hour drive to the garage in the condition it's in.
Anyone ever called the RAC out to something that could limp to a garage, but they towed it? I have Relay so apparently I could pick my location.

I had an issue with a P38 suspension going flat on the drive. AA said they would take the car to the local Stealer; about 8 miles away. Yeh, right. I declined and asked them to take me to my trusted indy; about 24 miles away. They refused.
I no longer use the AA but that gives you an idea of distances they will and won't travel.
Just to add. A P38 with flat suspension is an uncomfortable bugger to drive for more than 200 yards.
