SEAT reveals Ibiza Cupster concept
Worthersee debut for SEAT's new 'radical fun-mobile'. Right...

To the top of the doors the Cupster is identical to the standard Ibiza Cupra, with the same 180hp 1.4 Twincharger engine and 7-speed DSG. Above that it , erm, isn't. There is no roof at all and just two seats. They are set 80mm lower than standard so that the speedster-style wraparound screen doesn't cause excessive buffeting. And you thought it was some ill-conceived concept...
There aren't any interior pics from SEAT yet but a 'purist' theme is promised, drawing inspiration from the Ibiza Trophy racers by including plentiful Alcantara and new instruments. The paint is 'New Orange', with the dark grey double bubble cover apparently "like an island in this sea of orange."
But there is an actual point to the Ibiza Cupster. Sort of. This year is the 30th anniversary of the Ibiza's introduction, so this roadster is SEAT's present to itself to mark the occasion. And if that makes you feel rather old, SEAT has released an image of all four Ibiza generations to force the point home. Many happy returns Ibiza!
It's the only plausible explanation
It looks like a Renault Wind has inserted itself into the rear of an Ibiza. That 3/4 rear shot makes it look like a people carrier has been in an accident requiring the emergency services to remove the roof.
Maybe they had "Big Butts" on loop in the design studio?
