Two Mk1 Escorts in Bolsover, would you ask to look?
Discussion
One of my best friends rocked up to my door 20 years ago and asked me questions about my RS.
At the time, I was uneasy as I had no idea who he was.
My advice,
Note the address and send him a proper letter in the post with your address and mobile number on it, explaining how nice it would be to have a look, but you obviously don't want to freak him out.

If you don't want to "freak him out" definitely don't send him a letter, that's just weird.

If it's who I think it is, (can't see there being 2 similar front yards around here), the guy owns a garage in Staveley.
He's a proper petrol head, but could be better approaching the garage first, and checking if it is him.
Let me know if you want the garages name.
cheers for that, I'm in Scarcliffe, may bob over to Staveley at some point. He's a proper petrol head, but could be better approaching the garage first, and checking if it is him.

I guess you also personally have never had a stranger walk up your drive and ask to have a good look around your highly steal-able car. (Not talking about for sale adverts BTW).
I have. And that experience is relevant to the OP.
Dont just turn up .

If he's outside at the same time, yeah why not. Otherwise. Leave the cars and the guy alone. Having owned an interesting car previously. I used to get sick of the weirdos who want to engage in 20+min conversations about the car at petrol stations. Minute or 2 fine, but no more.
RESPECT!
But stop driving past his house slowly. He's going to be pissed off or get paranoid!

Oh my God this is worse than the thread on how to jack up a car, or how to start a car after two years.
Wait outside his house until you establish his routine. Try and gain his trust by dropping a copy of 'Classic Ford' on his doorstep, or a Ford badge through his letterbox. When you have a bond with him, add him on Facebook, (you'll get his name from going through his bins) and eventually send him a message on there asking if the inner wings of a Mexico will fit an RS2000, as a way of making conversation.
Don't write letters. That's socially awkward. Ignore those suggestions, knock his door. He'll be beaming.
