10k off a new 530D... would you still lease?
Discussion
So drivethedeal etc are currently offering the best part of ten grand off a 530D SE Auto.
List price is just under 40k I think (without options). We've all seen the mega discounts on the 640d etc and have done the maths on leasing. My question on this deal is are you taking a large chunk of depreciation out with the discount… or is it massively over-inflated in the first place (or both!).
Say you go PCP off a deal price of 31k - what would the GFV be on this car in 3 years? I'm trying to understand if this makes sense as a purchase or would you still be better leasing despite the large discount. I mean how low can the GFV be after 36 months if the car was bought for 75% of the list price in the first place - would BMW factor in the actual cost of the purchase or do the GFV based on the list price (methinks the former).
In terms of a next car - this (as an estate) is tres appealing. BHP, MPG and room to chuck bikes/dogs/kidnap-victims in the back.

Lease companies will have access to the same discounts if not greater ones. Comparing total cost over 3 years is surely the only way to make this decision if you want to rent a diesel BMW for a bit
Suppose am debating the 3 years versus possibly outright purchase. I change cars farily regularly but could see this being a long-term keeperGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
