My first convertible was an S2000 and it was a revelation driving a roadster compared to a normal car, loved the openness etc.

Just remember to close the roof, I left mine down and there was a random heavy shower which resulted in a very wet cabin and about 1cm of water. Took 2-3 weeks to dry out fully and having to sit on towels!

Our neighbour has an old blue SLK 230.

My old man got one of these in 230k flavour and at first I was a bit spectical but was won over, missus loves it too! It's his second convertible, they are great in the sun.

The great thing about a convertible is you can enjoy it fully without needing a humungous engine or driving everywthere at 80 mph. Once that roof is down you're away and laughing!

We spotted a mk2 MX5 last weekend with it's hard top still fitted. Shameful, utterly shameful.

I saw an MX5 last week that wasn't sideways. I can't remember how they were using the roof, but I'm sure they were using it in the way that made them happy.

Loved every minute of ownership and the roof was down everytime even in the cold, only heavy rain would stop it.
The chilly night time air coupled with the heaters on and the roof down =

Rain stopped in time for me to drive home roof off today.

I have to admit to driving in boiling hot weather last week roof up.

Every time i put roof down it rained and vice versa,then i got stuck in a jam on the Milan ring

and i think i might have melted if the roof had been down.

Don't know if its too late but there is the first 'SLK Day' at Mercedes Brooklands in a months time - the booking deadline may have past now.
Better get mine cleaned before then, although I'm sure the 300 mile drive down will ruin all my hard work.
