Dodge Challenger Hellcat: Time For Coffee?
Here's what Dodge thinks about a new Mustang turning up!

You need to know about the engine. It's called Hellcat for a start, possibly the best name for an engine in ever. A power output of 'over 600hp' from Dodge's first supercharged Hemi is quoted, with more than 90 per cent of the new 6.2 changed over the 392 Hemi. You'll hear it makes a suitably angry noise too.
There's a whole host of new tech for the Challenger as well, which the guys from SRT are clearly very chuffed about. From the extra wind tunnel hours to the red key that unlocks full performance a la Veyron, they are understandably very proud of their work. "This is not a car for everyone" is the video's opening line, a single-mindedness that's really refreshing. Our inner drag racer really rather wants one.
Looks fantastic, but not very stable going through the corkscrew. I wonder what the out-takes looked like
LHD for some people?
I love it.
I'll have mine in traditional Hemi Orange please......especially this year being the 50th Anniversary of the fabled 426 Hemi.
But fun and being a kid is what these cars are all about.
Much as all this is my cup of tea (I do own a modified GT500 [approx. 600bhp] so I guess it's exactly that) it honestly amazes me that in these times the musclecar has truly been reborn with more power than the street versions of the original legends (60 Boss, Mopar 440 and Hemis, 454 Chevrolets) after years in the doldrums (ha ha, e.g. Trans Ams and Corvettes with up to 7.5 litre engines with only 200bhp or a 5.7 with as little as 165bhp).
In 1971 when they were crying about the death of the musclecar in the US they couldn't have know this would happen...!

In that time, Ive had several hire cars; Dodge Journey, Jeep Patriot, Chevy Equinox. All of them absolutely dreadful.
I went and played hell at the hire car place last weekend - surely they had something that wasnt as soul destroying? As it turns out, yes they do.
Yes, its only the v6 version. Yes its the size of an oil tanker. Yes the interior is pretty woeful. But its got 300BHP. And its black. And in the rain its absolutely hilarious.
I know I shouldnt - but I love it.
