.....a 3 year old abarth 500 to fail its first MOT on a two dodgy front bushes resulting in a whole new control arm? It's only done 20k FFS, 80% pottering around a country village.

If it was a BMW, they would probably give you goodwill.

Or are FIAT and reliability still not related?

Nothing will ever convince me that the French and Italians have caught up.

Look here at Honest John's MOT results. You will find that the names with the poor reputations usually live up to them.

Here is the results for 2010 Fiat 500s. Seems there is some issues. Suspension arms 16x worse that other 2010 cars. Pins, bushes 17x worse.

Control arm bushes are a pig to replace. That's why they are so cheap. However, if the OP wishes to read a reply that he started on another thread, he may be enlightened as to a cheaper replacement option....

Plus the Abarth has solid suspension. All the force just gets transmitted instead of absorbed. I'm sure this is why bushes and drop links on my civic last about 2 years. They get battered.

Owner of a 500 here (well its swmbo's), and yes they're made of cheese. Expect various bits to fall off or perish over the next couple of years.

It's a cross platform part. The Xenon leveller is a pickup from the lower suspension joint/rather than the arm you wish to replace, it measures the difference in compression across all four corners and then works out a level.

Our 2004 Panda failed its MoT on this last November at around 34,000 miles. I put it down to speed cushions which it was too narrow to straddle.

Two different part numbers for non xenon abarths and those with xenons.

Looking at the diagrams the parts are almost identical but do differ.
