Exhaust bandage question

I was wondering if anyone knew if its still possible to buy the type of exhaust bandage that you soak in water to make it soft and pliable before applying it,the only type i ever see on sale nowadays is the black couloured stuff that you peel the dull red backing tape off,and which goes soft and gooey when you run the engine.

If you know a source, you can buy the lagging that steam engineers use. I think that's mainly of the soak and apply type.
