Hello people,

Thought this might be a good place to ask. I'm downsizing from a Saab 9-5 estate and need to know if my dog cage will fit in the back of an e46 touring, alas I cannot find dimensions of the floor space on the net, only the capacity.

The cage is 35" x 23". I could also do with knowing how much the wheel arches impede. If anybody with a tourer wants to be uber helpful it would be useful to have a measurement from the boot floor to headlining too.

I'll stick this over on the Bmw forums too.
Thanks.

Look for aftermarket fitted boot floor mats on ebay. They often have the dimension on the advert. smile

You're probably best trying to see if it will fit - the rear hatch is at an angle and knowing the floor area alone wouldn't give you a true fit (if you get what I mean).

Useable space is about 100cm wide x 68 cm deep but, as above the angle of the rear window might limit what'll fit.
Your best bet is to find one locally & ask nicely.

Many years ago I read in a computing magazine the most genius advice ever, when asked to recommend a small computer to fit on the reader's desk they replied "wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a bigger desk?".

Therefore, rather than worrying about buying a car to fit the dog cage, buy a dog cage to fit the car you want.

Not quite as simple as that. The dog cage is dependent on the size of the dog, obviously, so buying a smaller dog cage isn't the answer. Otherwise thanks for the advice gents, assuming the rear glass doesn't impede, I think it will shoe-horn in.
