Clutch/DMF/Starter, talk to me...
Discussion
I'll happily hold my hands up and accept I am a complete novice when it comes to the mechanics of cars, I am trying to learn - honest!
Anyway, I have a 2001 Mondeo (TDDI) - the clutch pedal was starting to 'stick' half way and gear changing became more of an exercise than swift movements, and this morning while about to start the car the starter motor was simply making a loud whirring noise. After a few attempts it does eventually link and tick over fine. I've googled and hoogled and all things seem to be pointing to the DMF on its way out, so I accept that will need replacing as well as my clutch needing a new kit fitted. I was just curious, assuming the starter motor has now suffered some damage due to this 'whirring' issue will I need to replace the starter motor as well, or is it simply the DMF that's preventing the starter from doing it's job?? I've rang round for quotes already for all three, best one I've had so far (incl. labour and vat) was £912.
Cheers, and apologies for an appaulingly noobish query

Thought as much. Ah well, needs must! Would be a tad annoyed if I'd paid a lot for the car but I bought it for £600 and overall, putting this aside, it's a great runner and everything else is top notch, so I'm willing to give it a chance with these repairs haha. Thanks both for replying
