Restarting hot race engines

Why is it that race engines are (or at least appear) harder / more reluctant to re-start after stalling when hot compared to regular road going engines?

Higher compression, more aggressive cam profiles, starter motor loose their effeteness in hot environment.

The list could be endless and a combination of things, I'll add in heat increasing resistance in the starter motor cable.

The resistance of the cable from battery to starter will be something like 0.2 ohms copper increases resistance at 0.039% for every 1deg C above room temp. So not really an issue.
