Have prices dropped as low as they are likely to go for a good example?

I have been tempted by one for a while, say that I bought a good example now and kept it well maintained using it only as a weekend toy will there be much depreciation in say 2 years?

Prices are quite specific to spec and mileage and being unmodified.
Aircon models have a big premium over non AC, as does below average miles, not many with sub 70k miles so expect to pay around £5k for low mileage AC model 04/05.
Premier 2005 model commands a premium over this.
But plenty of high mileage non aircon miles for sub £3k.
Prices seem to be firming up for the low mileage AC models, and still dropping for the rest.

Been looking at these too mate.

Seems you can get a pre-facelift EP3 for £3000 - 4000 with 70/80K miles

I think that car will be my next, although I want a rwd car next the only candidates are the mr2 NA (Not sure I'll be happy with the power over my current car, only 50 bhp difference) Honda S2000 (Just no, too young/insurance/cost)

I'd expect around £4k for mine really.

Facelift, 54 plate, 79k, FSH etc.

You're welcome to it, it's crap.

It's pretty amazing how strong the values of these have stayed considering how many they built and sold. Cmpare it to the Clio prices which are now shed money.

The Honda is a higher quality product than the Renault, it was a lot more expensive new and lasts better.

In Feb 2012 I bought an 03 plate NHB Pre facelift Ep3 on 74k with FHSH for £3000, it was then written off due to flood damage 4 months later for £3800.

I then bought my 2nd Ep3 in Feb 2014 for £2500. Milano red, pre facelift, 116k and FHSH on a 51 plate. This one is in better condition too, if I were to sell now I'd expect to get £2200-2400.

The Premier and the 30th Anniversary editions will hold a lot of their value however I think regular Ep3's will drop to around where mine is at and stay there for good examples. They were too common to ever appreciate at all.

Great cars though, far better than most other hot hatches I have owned/driven and once you get used to the way the power is delivered it is very easy to drive quick as long as you're not lazy with the gearchanges.

Ignore the muppets who say they're useless in town because of no low down torque, compare them to their n/a competitors and it shows there's naff all in it:

EP3 - 145ft/lbs at 5900rpm
Clio 182 - 148ft/lbs at 5250rpm
Focus ST170 - 145ft/lbs at 5500rpm

They're never going to be as torquey as a turbocharged hot hatch but an Astra VXR won't rev until 8400rpm so it's horses for courses really. smile

I found the 182 gutless low down, but suspect that was due to being spoilt coming from a turbo.

For a 2.0l n/a hatch my 182 seemed pretty good low down but as you say it's probably due to you driving turbo cars. After stepping out of my mates Focus ST MP260 my Honda feels very gutless but up to silly speeds there's nothing between them performance wise smile

I've a 06 premier on around 55k miles that I've had since 2007 with a full honda service history (I know I know!), I keep thinking of changing but would be sad to see it go. Company car may force it!

No idea what it would be worth. I hope they appreciate in value ;-) but I don't think it's as strong price wise as the focus RS I almost bought in 2007 instead of the EP3

I sold an 04 CTR last week with A/c done 73k with FSH it sold for £4,750 and could have sold it 3 times at that price. Was a nice clean non modified example.

A little bump for this.

So, is say, a Premier with circa 60k on the clock, with associated history and some choice mods (K-Pro etc) worth £5k?

and would it hold at that over the course of a year, based on less than 2-3k miles being added?

Versus a standard 04 with 79k?, at £4k

Just trying to get a handle on values since they appear to be all over the place.

Buy on history and condition IMO.

I paid £3k for 125,000 miles backed up with a full service history , plus recent clutch and belt changes. It had some suspension issues, mainly banging and knocking from worn out parts (cheap to diy), but the body work and engine are in great condition for the age and milage.

Of course, I aways do smile

I'm just trying to work out what I should be paying and what the residuals are like.

As so many were produced I can never see them appreciating in value, apart from the limited run premier models.

If anyone is after a mint EP3 then I know of a circa 44,000 miles completely standard 2005 premier model with FHSH which is currently owned by a Honda sales man. Last we spoke he was wanting around 6k-7k, but that was some months back.
