Cleaning sick from baby seat & seatbelts?
Discussion
Baby5678 puked all over his car seat yesterday.
The belts don't appear to come out of the seat, so can't machine wash them. I've scrubbed them with washing powder and Milton, but they still stink. Any ideas on what I can use that will get rid of the smell?
I'm going to call Britax today to see if there is a way to remove them.

Covers all off and machine washed.
The belts have a metal plate holding them in that would slide through as you say. The problem is that I can't find a way to get to the back of them. They appear to be inside the plastic of the seat!
Will try a scrub with bicarb too.
There is usually a detachable plastic back plate that allows access. The belts have a metal plate holding them in that would slide through as you say. The problem is that I can't find a way to get to the back of them. They appear to be inside the plastic of the seat!

babies austin have done the same and I have 4 britax seats....... across the two cars.
every belt and strap does come off and you can put them in the washing machine.
you'll be left with the plastic shell of the seat- which I jet washed.
they are a nightmare to put together though- they appear simple, but I had problems and I didn't think I was a thicko......... but apparently in this case yes.

Autosmart do a product called Bio Brisk which is fantastic for removing lingering smells.
For seat belts I pull them out all the way, wedge, then soak in a container of Bio Brisk or biological wash powder for a couple of hours.
You need to remove or neutralise every speck or you will still detect it weeks later.

This stuff:

Used it. It works on vomit on car upholstery/carpets. £7 on eBay.
(I also use it to deodorise the air con system in the car, too)

Sympathies OP, I had to do the same at 1am on a Bank Holiday Monday morning after my o/h's little girl upchucked on the way to A&E. All the belts and covers came off ours though, however not without a bit of faffing about. We were with friends who were 150 miles from home so no option of leaving it till the morning...
A full professional valet's sorted the D3 out and thankfully there's no more little whiffs when the temperature rises!
